A late addition to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has just been revealed.

The Hollywood Reporter has an interesting, unexpected scoop on the Harry Potter spinoff: Zoe Kravitz has joined the cast of the J.K. Rowling-penned film. According to the report, the actress’ role was added once production had started already, and even though she plays a small role in this movie, she would supposedly return for a bigger part in the yet-to-be-titled sequel.

It’s an interesting piece of information given the criticism that the movie’s casting has received for its lack of diversity. As of today, the only seemingly prominent role given to a person of color is that of Seraphina Picquery, President of the Magical Congress of the USA, played by Carmen Ejogo. Given the circumstances of Kravitz’s late addition to the cast, it does raise the question of whether her character was added in an attempt to balance the cast’s diversity. Either way, we are happy to see her join the Wizarding World!

Zoe Kravitz appeared last year in the critically acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road. She’s known to younger audiences for her role as Christina in the Divergent series.

Fantastic Beasts is currently in post-production with a release scheduled for November 18,2016. A sequel has already been confirmed for November 16, 2018.
