In 2016, for the first time ever, the characters of Harry, Ron and Hermione will be played by actors other than Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. Here’s who they are.

When Harry Potter and the Cursed Child hits the London stage next summer, these will be the faces that will embody the beloved characters. Jamie Parker will play Harry (left picture below), Paul Thornley will play Ron and Noma Dumezweni will play Hermione.

The casting news were shared tonight by Baz Bamigboye of the Daily mail, who’s been the primary source of information concerning the Harry Potter play.

Jamie, Paul and Noma will play the trio in their mid-thirties. The play, based on a new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, will take place 19 years after the end of Deathly Hallows (yes, around the time of the epilogue). This is all we know so far of the Cursed Child plot:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The play will open in June at the Palace Theatre in London
