Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan will star in the road trip movie about Republican Party strategists Karl Rove and Lee Atwater.

The duo is re-teaming with John Krokidas, who directed them in last year’s Kill Your Darlings. Just like that film, Young Americas follows the story of real-life personalities. Radcliffe will play Lee Atwater while DeHaan will bring life to Karl Rove, both of whom grew up to become Republican strategists.

Amanda Seyfried has also been confirmed for a supporting role. The script from Wes Jones won the Black List in 2010 and, according to Deadline, follows two ambitious college students on a cross-country road trip who, during the course of this buddy movie, tarnish the American dream one state at a time. Production begins this fall.

“We have been trying to get this script since it won the Black List in 2010 and thanks to the incredible team who kept this film alive, we have the pleasure of working with Krokidas and DP, Reed Morano,” said StarStream Media CEO Kim Leadford. “We loved their 1940s aesthetic in Kill Your Darlings, and look forward to watching them build the look of the 70s.”

Kill Your Darlings related the events of a murder that brought together the young poets of the beat generation. Daniel Radcliffe played Allen Ginsberg with DeHaan portraying Lucien Carr.

Daniel Radcliffe will next be seen in this October’s Victor Frankenstein, a re-telling of the classic tale.
