Pottermore has kicked off its Christmas celebrations with the reveal of a new piece of writing by J.K. Rowling. The new entry includes details about Cokeworth, the fictional English town that saw Severus Snape and Lily Evans grow up.

Starting today and going all the way through December 24, the interactive Potter website will reveal a daily new treat for fans. Not every day will bring a new piece of writing from Ms. Rowling, as the site has mentioned there will also be new potions and whatnot, but we know from the original announcement that we will get more information on Draco Malfoy as well as details about a plot involving Florean Fortescue’s ghost (yeah, that guy from the Diagon Alley ice-cream parlour.)

In the first short entry Rowling talks about Cokeworth, the town where Snape and Lily, as well as Petunia, grew up. That’s the same town where Spinner’s End is located at, so we know that Snape continues to live in it. And surprinsingly, the author reveals that the Railview Hotel in which Uncle Vernon tried to hide from the chasing Hogwarts letters in the first book is also located in Cokeworth.
